Beginning Beekeeping is designed for those interested in keeping honeybees. Honeybee societies are fascinating and complex and are beneficial to us in many ways. This course covers the different hive configurations, breeds of honeybees, and personal equipment. You will learn about a typical beekeeping year, from ordering bees in the winter to assembling equipment, checking the hive throughout the summer, and harvesting excess honey in the fall, as well as info on where to obtain equipment and bees. No live bees will be present at this session. No lunch breaks are planned, but bring snacks for short breaks.
